Letters

I realized a few years back that it’s never a bad thing to tell the people you love that you love them, to tell them why they’re important and how they’re different from anyone else in your life.

I am not particularly good at this. I am not the warmest, fuzziest caterpillar that ever lived, and I’m definitely not great at expressing myself.

However.

I happen to have a sentimental streak a mile wide, and I think these things are important.

I can tell people what they mean to me a lot easier and better if I actually think and then write. So that’s what I’m doing.

My letter to Drew was the first I wrote with this as a conscious purpose, but I’ve since gone back and categorized a few more. I’m trying to write them on birthdays, but I’ve already missed some (Rebecca, I’m looking at *you*). I figure really *thinking* about a person and *being honest* with them about why you love them and why they’re great might be even better than buying them a shitty vanilla candle! Lightbulb!

I will catch more of you on our next revolution around the sun.
