Kieran’s and Anneke’s school starts tomorrow. This always makes me nostalgic for my children when they were littler.
This was Kieran last year on his first day of 3rd grade.
Lest you think him too impossibly sweet and cute, this was also him last year on his first day of 3rd grade, before I asked him to smile.
And this was Anneke last year on the first day of kindergarten.
Not HER first day of kindergarten, though. She missed the first day because she was home with the barfing flu (Kieran missed the second day for the same reason).
And this was Anneke on her first day of kindergarten, the second day of school.
Oh my gosh. I can hardly stand the cuteness. She’s so TIIIIIIIIIIINY. A veritable pocket-sized version of her current self.
If I really want to cry, though, I go back to this picture. Kieran, four years ago today (which, by the way, is my brother’s 24th birthday!), on his first day of kindergarten. Apparently eating marshmallows for breakfast.
I love these children so much.
Mostly when I see them in photos.
Or when they’re sleeping.

Ms. Fashion starts 3rd grade on Tuesday, and Mia goes to Kindergarten that same day. I never sent her to preschool so it’s her FIRST first day.

Sometimes when my 15 year old is sleeping, I go in and watch him sleep, just to have a few minutes of looking at him without him rolling his eyes. I suspect I’ll be doing that with my 12 year old pretty soon too.
Your children are gorgeous, have I mentioned that?
