Wackadoodle

Today was a really weird day. REALLY weird. I got up with Archer and watched Blue’s Clues at some ungodly hour, like 5:30ish, because he wouldn’t stop crawling on my face. Went back to sleep at 7ish and then overslept. Had a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day at work. Drowning in work. Drowning. Experienced weird outbursts from a number of people in my office, including me. Had my new laptop die on me for approximately the third time (approximately) and had to leave it at work while it “rebuilds” (I HAVE MY LAPTOP WITH ME AT ALL TIMES).

And then we found our cat. Who’d been missing for TEN DAYS. (I haven’t talked about the missing cat here because I was just TOO SAD, but had resigned myself this morning to the fact that we’d ever see him again and had planned to make this post about him. And then we found him. (Alive.))

Just WEIRD. So, I’m in a mood. Maybe even a mood.

I don’t know that I have it in me to do anything great tonight, and I really wanted to give you great. Your formspring questions brightened my day, I tell you. I logged in late this afternoon (because Brad was having trouble submitting a question – anyone else have technical issues?), and I had to smile and laugh (and possibly cock my head to the side once or twice) reading them. Thanks for that.

So, instead of saying anything of substance, let me end this verbal diarrhea with a recap of the Bethsack! pay-it-forward give!away! extravaganza of fantastical goodies! (Do you like how the name changes by the day? I am like a tween trying out my different identities. One day, I wear Keds and a Swatch. The next, skinny jeans and a bolero jacket. Soon, my sorrow will be clear to you through my eye makeup.)

  • Bethsack! is being created in the spirit of Whimsy‘s Plain White Box. Winner commits to hosting his or her own pay-it-forward give!away! in this same spirit. If winnah (dollah dollah bills, y’all (strangely, this is the second time I’ve said this tonight)) does not have a blog or other social platform from which to host give!away!, I am happy to host give!away! here (your rules, your stuff and whatevs).
  • Bethsack! will be an actual SACK (or BAG) full of stuff. Great, great mystery stuff.
  • You can win Bethsack! both by commenting on my posts this week (one entry per day) or by submitting random question(s) for me to answer at a later date, either to the text box over there in the righthand sidebar or to my formspring profile (unlimited entries!).
  • In order to get credit for any questions submitted to me via formspring, you have to either toggle the “Include Your User Info” radio button, note your identity in your question(s) somehow, or email me (ixbeths (at) gmail (dot) com) and let me know how many questions you submitted anonymously. (I forgot to say this yesterday, so I am hoping it stands out with the annoying formatting. You’re welcome!)
  • Minionlympics supporters (SILVAH, thankyouverymuch) start with additional entries, as detailed here.
  • Winner will be determined in some fair way, either by random number generator some-a-ma-schnoozle or by child picking from container or something. Depends on whether I’m feeling more analog or digital that day.
  • Contest runs until Friday, March 5th, at 6 p.m. CST.

Also said (by me) several times in conversation today? “Wackadoodle.” Don’t know why. I don’t think I’d ever uttered it before today.

So sorry about your no good, terrible etc. etc. day. But YAY for your cat showing up. And alive – wow, that was probably way unexpected. After we finally found a nice family to bestow our devil cat upon last fall, his female doppleganger showed up at our door, begging for food daily. Of course, we took her in and let her spend the snowy nights at the foot of our bed and even went so far as to get her fixed. But she was an outdoor cat at heart and I certainly wasn’t looking to become a cat owner again, so we let her go out whenever she wanted. We haven’t seen her in about 10 days. But you know what? I’m glad. It was so nice those couple of months we didn’t have a cat to deal with (we’ve had at least one since our first anniversary, 12 years ago). Does that make me evil?

Yeah, you should hear the story behind the cat. TOTAL SHOCK.

I had kindof decided that I could console myself with the fact that we would not longer have litter EVERYWHERE WE GO in the house (no carpet, so it just slides everywhere). But! I’m so happy he’s back. Much happier than if he were missing, even with the litter factor.

And yes, that makes you PURE EVIL.

Is this the actual container you’re using, perchance?

My word of choice lately has been Jackass. As in, right now Dylan is being a jackass by insisting on crawling backwards and getting stuck places and then crying about it. Driving me nuts! Is it naptime yet? Is it wrong to call your infant a jackass?

Oh and I really hope my questions were the ones that made you cock your head to the side. I said cock. Ha.

Huh, huh, huh, cock, huh.

Absolutely not. Infants are total jackasses. Although I prefer the term “asshat.”

I once had COLONOSCOPY go through my head for an entire week. For no reason. No one I knew was getting one, and it’s not like I”m a doctor and I PERFORM THEM or anything (thank goodness). But yes: COLONOSCOPY.

Here’s for a better Tuesday, yes?

Yes! And it WAS a better day! I am on a desktop computer in our student workroom right now, ha, but STILL, a very good day. Such a perfect day… Why am I hearing Lou Reed? Oh yes. That commercial was on EVERY THREE SECONDS DURING THE OLYMPICS.
