Word or phrase. A word that encapsulates your year. “2009 was _____.”*
Quick. I know it’s cliche, but the older I get, the faster time moves. In 2009, I met my last child. It seems like I was pregnant six minutes ago, but he’s seven months old now. Likewise, it’s become more and more apparent recently how much older and bigger Kieran’s getting; he’s almost nine. When he was tiny, he was always in the “less than 10th” percentile for height and weight. We weighed and measured him last week, and he’s in the 71st percentile for height and 80th for weight. He’s just nine inches shorter than me. So weird. He got some dinosaur pajamas for Christmas that I’m not sure will fit, even with an elastic waist. I was putting them in his closet a couple hours ago and wondering if he would ever wear them. I’m not sure he *likes* dinosaur pjs anymore. That’s just craziness. He was a tiny little blob a couple days ago.
New person. She came into your life and turned it upside down. He went out of his way to provide incredible customer service. Who is your unsung hero of 2009?*
Okay, I don’t know about “unsung hero,” but the new person in my life obviously turned everything upside down.

Web tool. It came into your work flow this year and now you couldn’t live without it. It has simplified or improved your online experience.*
I don’t think I actually created my twitter account this calendar year, but I started really paying attention to it this year, thanks primarily to the now defunct @washtenawjail. This and other stories made me realize the revolutionary power of some of the new forms of social media.
